Elder Jimmy L. Patterson is the youngest of Mr. and Mrs. John Patterson, born in Eastover, South Carolina. He attended grade school in Richland County and graduated from Webber High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from South Carolina State University and his Master of Arts from Clemson University.
In 1975, he met and married Vera White, and to this union two girls were born. He was called into the ministry in 1984 under the pastorate of Dr. Julia Lakin of Unity Evangelistic Church in Eastover, South Carolina. Under the inspiration of God in 1996, Pastor Patterson and his wife, Vera, took a step of faith and established a church in Orangeburg, S.C. Pastor Patterson founded True Vine Temple in Orangeburg, S.C., and together they worked faithfully until May 6, 1997, when God called Sis. Vera Patterson home to rest. True Vine Temple continues to stand as a beam of light and city of refuge for the people of Orangeburg and its surrounding areas.
In 1995, he retired from the USARF with the rank of Master Sergeant. In 1999, Elder Patterson also retired from teaching in the public school system of South Carolina. He is affiliated with numerous local and national organizations.
Praising God for second chances, Elder Patterson met and married Evangelist Barbara Langley on December 27, 2003. To the new union they now have six children: Sterling, III, Romaine, Shawn, Kandi, Aaron, and Tonya. His new beginning attitude keeps his spirit renewed daily. He is an anointed preacher, teacher, and singer. His motto is – “It’s nice to be nice.” His favorite scripture is “I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall continually be in mouth.” Psalms 34:1 He desires your prayers and continued support as he enters the new millennium being confident of this very thing that hath done a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
